Over the Knee socks  

A hot crochet item/project of 2020, how can you resist making a pair. I avoided making these socks and when I finally gave in, I had a hard time finding a pattern that worked for me. Therefore, I decided to create my own and share it with you. Since this is my first pattern, I welcome feedback and suggestions on how to make this work best for you.

Stitches needed for pattern 

Sl st - slip stitch 

Ch - chain 

Hdc - half-double crochet 

DC - double crochet 

V stitch - dc, ch 1, dc in same space

Materials used: Caron Simply Soft Yarn 

Hook Used: 3.75mm/ F crochet hook  

The larger sock stitch counts are in ( ) or after comma.

Toe of Sock  

1. Magic ring, 10 hdc into ring, join with sl st (10)  

1. Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around, join with sl st (20) 

1. Ch 1, *hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in 4th st (1hdc in first st, 2hdc in 2nd st)*, repeat ** around (25,30) 

1. Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st (25,30) 

1. Rows 5-6 repeat row 4 for a total of 6 rows  

Foot of sock  

Row 7. Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), dc in same space, *skip 1 st, dc, ch 1, dc in next stitch (this is your V stitch)*, repeat ** til the end, join with sl st (13,15 V stitches) 

Rows 8-16 (18), ch 4., dc in same space, in next ch 1 space, dc., ch 1., dc., repeat around til the end, join with sl st. (13,15 V stitches)  

Heel of Sock  

Row 17. Ch 1, hdc on top of V stitches for 18 (20) spaces, ch 1 turn 

Rows 18-22 Hdc in next 18 (20) stitches for 6 rows 

Join sides of heel and tie off  

Leg of Sock  

Row 1. Join yarn between V stitches and heel, ch 4 and dc in same space. Continue around the front side of the sock at top of the foot section, completing V stitches in the ch 1 space. On the heel, please a V stitch in between every 2 rows and on back seam, Join with sl st. (14,16 v stitches). 

Rows 2-20, ch 4, dc in same space, continue V stitches in ch 1 space around, join with sl st. (14, 16 v stitches each row)

Rows 21-30, ch. 4, dc in same stitch space, place another V stitch in same space; you should have 2 v stitches in first space of the row, continue around with V stitches in each ch.1 space until the end, join with sl st. (15,17 v stitches) 

Rows 31-40, ch. 4, dc in same stitch space, place another V stitch in same space; you should have 2 v stitches in first space of the row, continue around with V stitches in each ch.1 space until the end, join with sl st. (16,18 v stitches)

Row 41. Ch1 , sc in the next 45 (55) spaces on top of the v stitches around until the end, join with sl st 

Rows 42-43, ch 1. Sc in each stitch around until the end, join with sl st

Scalloped Trim 

Row 44. Ch 1, *skip 2 spaces, 5 dc in 3rd space, skip 2 spaces, sl st in 6th space* repeat ** around. (8,9 scallops)    Sock Ties: Chain 100 or more for desired length.
